Dandy Doll - Texas Dandy

By a stallion who ran AAA & out of a race
ROM mare, Doc Bar was bred to run. Apparently he didn't agree. A rather lackluster career gained only a SI-75 and
$95.00. Doc Bar then went on to a successful halter career, earning 36 points. His true claim to fame
was his ability as a sire. When crossed to mares of specific lines [ex,- Poco Bueno daughters] the foals were
amazingly talented cutting horses. He sired World Champions, Superiors, ROMs, NCHA money earners of $3,213,453 and
NCHA Hall of Fame inductees. Doc Bar was inducted into the AQHA Hall of Fame.

Much like Doc Bar, Impressive's pedigree
indicates that he was bred for speed. Also like Doc Bar, his talents lay elsewhere. Although he never made it to the
track, Impressive was a World Champion Halter horse with 49 halter points. Linebred to Three Bars 2X3X4, Impressive's
get have become the standard of the modern halter class.
Whether you love him or hate him, you probably have an opinion
on Impressive. Few horses have ever caused such an emotional, knee jerk reaction among horseman. For the uninitiated,
the cause of all this concern is a genetic disease called HYPP,- a potassium in-balance caused by a mutated
dominant gene. This particular mutated gene started with Impressive. Because he was such a popular show horse &
bred extensively, it was passed on to quite a few of his offsprings who in turn passed it on...
I've included U. C. Davis' link in reference to HYPP as well
as the N/N Alliance. The N/N Alliance is a group of breeders promoting N/N [Impressive horses not effected by HYPP] &
non Impressive breds in the show ring. They are also fighting for the eradication of HYPP in the American stock horse
breeds. If you are unfamiliar with HYPP, you might want to investigate both.
