Hoofbeats from the past....
In the previous pages, we've looked at the stallions of
the past that are still influencing our Quarter Horse breeding program at Cloughrinka, today. Now, I'd like to change the
perspective to the pedigree distaff side.
Unfortunately, there's a decided lack of resources [concrete information
or photos] when it comes to AQHA producing mares of the past. Too many times you simply come to "mare by so & so". Most
of the ones listed below were on the track & that's probably the only reason there was much documentation done on them.
Please take a moment to meet some grand mares. They are just as significant, if not as well heralded.

Reed, Little Sister W, Gusdusted & Fanny Finale, all by Joe Reed II. She was also the dam of Ashwood [AQHA] by
Joe Darter. Gusdusted was a show ROM, all the other earned race ROMs.

Rutland broodmare band.
